Comic Delivery – December 2012

It’s that time again when I get my latest batch of comics sent from A place in Space.

This month is particularly exciting as I finally get my hands on the comic whose cover I previewed back in October. It was intially to be a Batman #13 variant cover, but DC held it back to cover the 2nd printing. It’s a fantastic piece of work by Aaron Kuder and shows just how insidious, sly and yet hugely entertaining a character The Joker can be. Anyway, after waiting for what seemed like months (it was) I finally have it.

There is also a sensational cover from Greg Capullo for Batman #14 showing The Joker in the guise of a mechanic, keeping tabs on all those close to Batman. Death of the Family is really shaping up to be something special – Scott Snyder delivers time and time again. You can read my Court of Owls and my fanboy fawning of him.

Included this month is all of the crossovers to the Death of the Family and Snyder’s Batman Annual #1, which is a Mr. Freeze story that rivals the seminal Batman: Animated Series award-winning Heart of Ice; a sombre, moving read.

Anyway, here are the pictures. You can view them as a gallery that include additional comments or just scroll down.

  1. My favorite Detective Comics story ever is “And Red All Over” (Detective Comics # 796, September 2004). It is a perfect combination of story and action, it pleasantly focuses on Bruce’s ethic and way of thinking, it has a very enjoyable atmosphere and, the icing on the cake, the cover is drawn by Tim Sale.

Say something goddammit!
